To what extent are you willing to do the deep work to get what you want as well as stay relevant?
You can’t solve today’s problem’s with yesterday’s solutions, as the saying goes. Years ago, I learned this lesson as well as another valuable one from a journalism teacher. He later became known as one of the first multimedia journalists after many years of writing about sports for Chicago newspapers.
Even if you want to deal with just the essentials today because of our ever-shortening attention spans, you can’t just skim the surface. You often have to dig deep into yourself and consult other sources and evidence to learn more and figure out what to do. In other words, deal with the disruption around you, rather than try to avoid it or wish it away, or even worse, use an out-of-date playbook.
