Want to feel better about your work, your relationships with others and your life? Broaden your perspective to think less about time and more about influence. In other words, stop obsessing about how you’re spending your time and accounting for it. Instead, start thinking about how you’re making an impact and the effects you’re having. You’ll be more influential because you’ll be focused on outcomes.

With this shift from quantitative (time) to qualitative (impact), you can improve your thinking, the choices you make and the actions you take. You’ll open up more space, expend energy more efficiently and increase capacity in yourself and others.

To make the shift, you can introduce these three steps into your routine:

1. Make space for yourself.

2. Direct your energy wisely.

3. Create conditions to generate insights for yourself.

For descriptions of these steps plus the neuroscience recipe you can follow to get powerful “ah-ha” moments, follow the link to this article: 3 ways to work differently to make a greater impact. Forbes Coaches Council published this article online on August 26, 2025.

When you’re making space for yourself, directing your energy wisely, and generating insights on your own, you’ll be helping your head, heart and hands work better together.
